Christopher is a lifelong martial artist with over 3 decades of experience in various styles—most recently: Gracie Jiu-Jitsu®. Christopher credits many of the life-lessons learned, while training in the dojo, as having helped inform his philosophies on: Strength & Performance Coaching and his approach to clinical treatment as an Certified Manual Therapist—his two formal professions of trade.
Since seeing the Karate Kid at age 6, Christopher became obsessed with Martial Arts & Martial Arts Cinema. Despite a steady diet of martial arts action movies he wouldn't actually set foot in a dojo until age 14. It was then that Christopher began his lifelong studies in the martial arts starting with an Okinawan style of Karate called: Goju-Ryu. Under the expert instruction of Hanshi Christopher Doyle (Port Credit Academy of Martial Arts), over the course of the next 5 years, Christopher would progress from: kids classes to adult classes, while advancing in rank to become a Black Belt Candidate and ultimately grade for his Black Belt.
Christopher's focus would shift away from martial arts over the next several years to earning a Bachelor's Degree from York University in Toronto, Ontario Canada while concurrently training to compete as a member of the Men's Varsity Football Team and, ultimately, earn a chance to play Professional Football in the Canadian Football League.
Upon entering the work force as a Mobile Security Operative – Supervisor in the Residential Services Division of Intercon Security—a reputable commercial and residential security company in Toronto, Ontario—Canada, Christopher would become accredited as a Pressure Point Control Tactics Instructor under Doug Ashton, founding President of The Control Institute Inc.™—an expert witness in Use of Force subject matter across Canada.
For the next two years, Christopher served as an Instructor-Assistant to the Instructor Cadre at the Training Centre of Intercon Security where he was tasked with the responsibility of helping teach: Canadian Use Of Force Curriculum, Pressure Point Control Tactics, Tactical Ground Defence, Use Of Intermediate Force Options (baton and application of restraints) and Spontaneous Knife and Edged Weapon Defence to each new class of Security Guards entering the work force for Intercon.
Christopher would take this teaching experience and parlay it into a 3 year, contract-faculty position, as a content expert in: Defensive Tactics and Pressure Point Control Techniques with: Humber College—Lakeshore Campus in the Department of Community Justice and Social Services & the Police Foundations Program.
After teaching at Humber College, Christopher, while working as a Strength and Performance Coach in Thornhill, Ontario would serendipitously reconnect with Dominic Moscone, formerly, his Athletic Therapist at York University and a Kyoshi with Northern Karate Schools. Christopher would spend the next two years working with Kyoshi Moscone and attain his purple belt ranking in Shotokan Karate before moving to the West Coast of Canada.
Through his journey in martial training Christopher had been exposed to elements of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu® at The Port Credit Academy Of Martial Arts and again through Tactical Ground Defence training during his Accreditation process as a Pressure Point Control Tactics Instructor with The Control Institute Inc.™. However, it wasn't until he was exposed to the Combat Veritas® Program at Northern Karate—Thornhill, under the instruction of Kyoshi Moscone, that he was bit hard by the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu® bug and would decide to pursue studies in the art full-time.
Seeking out in-person instruction, Christopher started his jiu-jitsu journey through the Sportive branch of the discipline. However, with consistent conflicts in scheduling Christopher would find himself inspired to take an in-depth look at the full scope of what the Gracie University–Online® platform offered.
Immediately recognizing the value in: the scope, breadth, depth, detail and undeniable passion contained within the content offered by: Ryron, Rener and Eve Gracie—through the Gracie University–Online® platform—Christopher registered with Gracie University HQ® and enrolled in: Gracie Combatives 2.0™, Women's Empowered 2.0™ and Gracie Games™. Simultaneously, Christopher made the decision to apply for recognition as an Official Gracie Garage® by becoming affiliated with Gracie University HQ® and committing to the standard with which they expect their content to be facilitated.
When not working in the gym or clinic at Sailor Jack's Barbell Garage, Christopher can be found training the Women's Empowered 2.0™ curriculum with his wife: Jen and Mother-In-Law: Rica, playing the Gracie Games™ with his son: Mackenzie or training Gracie Combatives 2.0™ with Grant (see below). Christopher also enjoys: riding his motorcycle, reading, writing and weight training.

Grant is a self-professed grappling enthusiast. He has been pursuing a career as a Pro-Wrestler for the past several years and in that time has grown and come to love all things combat sports—specifically Gracie Jiu Jitsu™. With the rigorous demands of his schedule, Grant had difficulty finding—and being able to commit to—a consistent class schedule at local BJJ Schools in the Fraser Valley area. Also, Grant wasn't a fan of the idea of sparring straight away—not having a solid background in any formal martial art himself. When Christopher introduced Grant to Gracie Jiu Jitsu™—and the Gracie University–Online™ platform—signing-up was a no-brainer!
The convenience of being able to access online video training tutorials taught by Ryron and Rener Gracie any time, anywhere combined with the utility of being able to roll with Christopher and navigate the Gracie Combatives™ curriculum in Gracie Garage–Vancouver has allowed Grant the flexibility to pursue his passion for grappling training on his own terms and in his own time.
As a father, Grant is excited to introduce the awesome power of jiu jitsu to his 4 year old son, Nathan, through the Gracie Games™ Curriculum which is the introductory phase of the larger Gracie BullyProof™ and Jr. Combatives™ programs for kids.
When not working as the Director of Strength and Performance Coaching for Sailor Jack's Barbell Garage; Grant can be found spending time with his partner Michelle and son Nathan, honing his wrestling skills, training,
